Why Rent This Car?

Why Rent the Toyota Hiace 2025?

This is not the old “worker van” you might be used to. The 2025 Toyota Hiace (High Roof) is a modern, comfortable people-mover designed for large families and tour groups.

It features a Super Long Wheelbase (SLWB), providing massive interior space and legroom that standard vans cannot match. With its Automatic Transmission and powerful Turbo Diesel engine, it is surprisingly easy to drive, even for those who usually drive sedans. It is the perfect choice for road trips to Semenggoh Wildlife Centre, Serikin Market, or long-distance journeys across Sarawak.

Q1: Do I need a special truck license (GDL) to drive this?

No. You can drive this 10-seater Hiace with a standard car license (Class D). Since the vehicle’s weight is within the 3,500kg limit for passenger use, no special vocational license is required for personal rentals.

Q2: Can this van fit in shopping mall parking?

IMPORTANT: This is a “High Roof” vehicle with a total height of 2.28 meters.

  • Do NOT enter basement parking or drive-thrus with height limits below 2.3m.
  • Most shopping malls (like VivaCity or The Spring) have height limits of 2.0m – 2.1m. You must park in the outdoor/open-air parking zones.

Q3: How much luggage can it fit with 10 passengers?

The Hiace SLWB is spacious, but if you fill all 10 seats, luggage space is shared. It comfortably fits:

  • 10 Passengers + 5-7 Medium Suitcases
  • 6-7 Passengers + 10 Large Suitcases (Rear seats can be folded/stacked)

Q4: Is it powerful enough for hills (e.g., to Serian/Sri Aman)?

Yes. The 2.8L Turbo Diesel engine produces 450Nm of torque, which is more powerful than most pickup trucks. It climbs steep hills effortlessly, even when fully loaded with 10 people.

Q5: Can I drive to Miri, Bintulu, or Sibu?

Yes, this van is built for long-distance touring. Outstation surcharges apply to cover the higher wear-and-tear:

  • Sibu / Sarikei: RM300 Fee
  • Miri: RM600 Fee
  • Mukah / Bintulu: RM500 Fee
